making a purchase (part 3)

the checkout process...

Checkout progress

The checkout works in four basic stages:

  1. Cart
  2. Address
  3. Payment
  4. Completion
eBuyer's cart is very clear and easy to understand. It shows all the products currently in the cart, the latest available stock number and the total price including VAT. A very good cart feature is the QuickFind code field. Provided one knows the QF code of the product, one need not navigate to it the usual way simply to add it to the cart. All one needs to do is type the code in and press 'Add'. Cart Screendump
The address details stage is also very easy to use. The customer is able to have the goods delivered to any address. This benefits those who would prefer their items to be delivered to their place of work. Adding a new shipping address is very easy too. All the user needs to do is enter the Property Name/Number and the Postcode and Ebuyer will do the rest. Address Screendump
Payment is swift, easy and secure. I was required to agree to the eBuyer Terms and Conditions. In it they state regarding Data Protection: "The Supplier will take all reasonable precautions to keep the details of your order and payment secure but unless the Supplier is negligent, the Supplier will not be liable for unauthorised access to information supplied by you." I then placed my order. Payment Screenshot
On the checkout complete page the customer is courteously thanked and a pop-up window appears which has a customer survey in it. An order is also given a number, however if an order number is not liked the customer can create a order reference instead. This also is a very quick process indeed. An email is sent instantly to acknowledge your order. Complete Screendump
