 Online services
The Internet as a whole has grown beyond all recognition in the last few years. An incredible amount of services are now available to anyone at the click of a button. It has empowered individuals as well as organisations with opportunities that were inconceivable only a few years ago. To provide an understandable analysis and a balanced picture of the present state of the Internet as a whole, I have purposely chosen five different categories of online services. These together will show what it offers overall and its current limitations.
The chosen five types are:
- Educational services
- Communication services
- eGovernance
- Information services
- Entertainment services
Firstly, these will be described and analysed in general terms to give a good overview of each. Next a single specific service from within each category will be discussed in more
detail, and then a real example will be analysed and evaluated.
Occasionally I will discuss some of the technology used by these services.
