Communication
“Information Communication Technology has affected my life!”
ICT has affected the way I communicate with my friends and family. Before, I would normally telephone them every now and then. Now I exchange messages with them most days. This has made my friendships stronger and I have also got to know new people as well. Instant messenger programs have great features these days. MSN messenger 7.5 allows me to have voice conferences with all my friends at the same time. This is great! It is almost as if we are in the same room! Messaging has allowed my friends and me to spend much more time together as a group.
I am also able to email my friends with details of forth coming events. They can then set reminders using their computers so they don’t make any other arrangements. They can also email me. It is also possible for my friends and me to arrange things quickly and spontaneously using our mobile phones either by calling each other or sending text messages.
I am also able to email members of my family who live a distance away. It is good to be able to keep up to date with family events and to be able to exchange photographs by means of email attachments. I find sending an email quicker and easier than the conventional writing of letters.
I have also found being able to send email attachments very useful in another way. Recently I left my USB memory stick at home. I reached my destination before I realised that I needed some important work which I had stored on it. I was able to email home and have the work sent to me as an email attachment. This saved me much inconvenience and time.
The impact of ICT has changed the way individuals communicate and socialise. It is given them faster ways of contacting each other and is an easy and convenient way to strengthen relationships and make new friends.
